On a journey to free her parents.Its about a spirit world of supernatural Beings where a Chihiro has to free her parents who have turned into Giant pigs. She must summon the courage to live and work amongst spirits, with the help of the Haku and the cast of unique characters she meets along the way. in simple words, it tells the story of Chihiro’s journey through a spirit world as she strives to save her parents and return home safely.
2. The Secret World of Arrietty
The Secret World of Arrietty (Karigurashi no Arrietty). Its a beautiful movie about a tiny four inch tall people called Borrowers. They take only what they need. They make their own home from items that they borrow from the humans. A girl named Arrietty who is a 14 years old live there with her parents in human world. Their life takes a turn when the humans discover their daughter, Arrietty. A heartwarming tale of friendship and courage between a tiny girl and a human boy.
3. When Marnie was There
When Marnie Was There (Omoide no Marnie) is a beautiful Japanese Studio Ghibli production. Its an emotional journey of a tomboy named Anna. An amazing story about a lonely foster kid. who is angry at the world, but she becomes friend with a mysterious girl who is known as Marnie that changes her life forever. The Story begins with a timid, taciturn 12-year-old girl anna who’s sent by her foster parents to the seaside for the summer, in the hope that the clear air and fresh surroundings might ease her asthma and tempt her out of her shell and there Anna meets her imaginary friend Marnie that changes her life forever.
4. The Tale of Princess Kaguya
The Tale of the Princess Kaguya ( Kaguya-hime no Monogatari) is based on the 10th century Japanese folk tale. Kaguya is from moon but sends down to earth and one evening a man works as a bamboo cutter in a forest, he discovers a small baby inside a glowing shoot. He immediately takes her home. Later she grows into a beautiful and desirable young woman. This movie has magical adventure and will give you nostalgic and the sad part is she has to return on moon for ever.
5. Grave of the Fireflies
Grave of the fireflies (Hotaru no Haka) is one the best movies of all time. It is focuses on a teenager and his sister struggling to survive at the tail end of the second world war. Their tale of survival is as heartbreaking as it is true to life. It is an emotional animated film telling the story of two children from the port city of Kobe, made homeless by the bombs. Seita is a young teenager, and his sister Setsuko which is something 5 years old. Their father is serving in the Japanese navy, and their mother is a bomb victim. Many people cried after watching this movie. It’s not only an emotional movie or war movie but it fills with lovely memorable childhood memories which will give you nostalgic.
6. My Neighbor Totoro
My neighbor Totoro (Tonari no Totoro) is one of the best movies of studio ghibli directed by Hayao Miyazaki one of Japan’s most beloved animators. It is about Satsuke and Mei, Two young girls who find that their new country home is in a mystical forest inhabited by a menagerie of mystical creatures called Totoros. Mei and Satsuki shift to a new house to be closer to their mother who is in the hospital. They soon become friends with Totoro (who is also the king of the forest) a giant rabbit-like creature who is a spirit. Totoro brings the sisters on a magical adventure but also helps them to understand the realities of life.
7. Kiki’s Delivery Service
Kiki’s Delivery Service ( Majo no Takkyūbin). This is the first film by celebrated animator Hayao Miyazaki to become available in the U. S. This story follows a Thirteen-year-old Kiki tries to become an independent witch and gets a job at a delivery service. She wakes up one day to find that she can neither fly her broom nor talk to her cat. Kiki brings with her exciting new experiences and comes to understand the true meaning of responsibility. The story follows the battle between Princess Mononoke and a mining village. This is one of the International hit movies of japanese famous animator Hayao Miyazaki.
